Part I: Teaching the Humans
General Care, Suggested Goals
Fresh Healthy Supplements added (1/4 of daily ration) such as yogurt, fresh meat, and vegetables.
Avoid junk food
Grooming and Handling Check List
The dog is comfortable being touched on feet, ears, tail and this is practiced daily
The dog is comfortable with brushing/combing
The dog is brushed frequently enough to prevent matting of the coat and the skin healthy (once per day –
twice per week)
The dog is comfortable with ear cleaning
Ear cleaning is done once per week
The dog is comfortable with tooth brushing
Tooth brushing is done once per week
The dog is comfortable with bathing
Bathing is done once per month
Exercise and Play
The dog has many toys including a Nylabone, and Kong
The dog is “addicted” to at least one toy
Dog gets at least 30 minutes of exercise with a person per day
For proper Socialization, make sure your dog is:
The dog is comfortable with male and female adults.

The dog is comfortable with male and female children.
The dog is comfortable with people in special circumstances (wheelchair,
crutches, etc.)
To prevent possessiveness, ensure the following:
The dog is comfortable with his food bowl, toys or bed being touched
The dog is comfortable with sharing his best friend
For pleasant car rides
The dog is comfortable riding in the car
The dog is Properly restrained in a car
Miscellaneous
At least 10 hrs good sleep in an adults bedroom.
Visits the vet regularly, has rabies and distemper vaccination.
Neutered or spayed.
